Well, to be entirely correct, Amsterdam is the start (and end) of all of our tulip tours by boat & bike. And that’s perfect because a trip to the ‘Bloemenmarkt,’ the flower market floating in its UNESCO-listed city center canal ring, is just the thing to get you excited for the blossoms ahead. While you’re there, visit the many excellent museums at the Museumplein square, bike through the Vondelpark or simply admire the Golden Era townhouses.

The regions of North and South Holland also hold plenty more in store; visit the Zaanse Schans open-air museum for insights into the Netherlands’s past and its working windmills, visit a cheese farm, or get to know the fascinating history of Haarlem, Leiden and Gouda.

You’ll see flowers wherever you go, and none more so than in the impressive Aalsmeer flower auction house, where immense volumes of blooms in all shapes and shades are traded and sold for markets all across the world.
