If you come back from your bike ride through the picturesque river valley, you will be greeted from afar in bright blue: the Patria. On board the chefs will be preparing a multi-course dinner for you. Before dinner is ready, you will have time to enjoy a freshly brewed coffee or a refreshing drink on deck in the sun, viewing the countryside. Doesn’t this sound like a holiday? There are many good reasons to travel with Patria:

See the ship Patria

1. Familiar atmosphere

Cosines and conviviality are very important on the Patria. The ship can accommodate a maximum of 68 passengers. Thanks to the manageable size, you will get to know your fellow travelers quickly, and our on-board staff will have enough time to look after all of the guests.
In the restaurant, in the salon with bar and on the sundeck there is plenty of space for socializing. No wonder that new friendships are often made on board. We keep receiving requests from guests who would like to book their next bike and boat trip together with friends they met on a previous trip.

2. Comfortable and active in one

During your bike and barge tour the Patria is your floating hotel. You’ll sleep in renovated twin cabins with private shower and toilet. During the day you will cycle on constantly changing tracks and in the meantime the Patria travels across the river to the next overnight stop. A bike holiday cannot be more comfortable, because you do not need to pack your bags every morning. Your accommodation will simply travel with you. And your luggage too! For us ‘comfort’ also means that we take care of your meals completely: breakfast, packed lunches and three-course dinner menus are included in your tour.

3. Discover the most beautiful corners of Germany

The Patria has been sailing under Dutch flag through some of the most beautiful parts of Germany since 2011: the river valleys of the Rhine, Saar, Neckar and Moselle. The first journey, the one from Saarburg to Koblenz (or vice versa) takes you along the Saar and Moselle. On the second journey, you will follow the course of the Rhine and Neckar in eight days traveling from Koblenz to Bad Wimpfen (or in opposite direction) in Rheinland-Pfalz.

Both tours mean a program full of fairytale castles, bike tours through villages with half-timbered houses, spectacular river panoramas, old vineyards and wine tasting at local winemakers. Even inexperienced cyclists can master the 20 to 45 kilometer daily tours well. But of course you need to be fit enough and feel comfortable on a bike. You’ll ride on bike paths and without any high hills, because the routes run through the shallow river valleys.
