About this tour

This Bike & Boat tour in Southern Dalmatia leads through unique, small towns and beautiful island landscapes. Experience the islands of Brač, Korčula, und Šolta as well as the beautiful lavender island of Hvar. Stroll around Hvar town with its mighty fortress and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere in the artist town of Stari Grad. The UNESCO World Heritage cities of Trogir and Split are two more highlights this tour has to offer and will inspire with their beauty and incredible history. Be sure to taste a variety of the Dalmatian specialties, especially the regional wines, referred to locally as ‘gods droplet’.

This tour is occasionally offered parallel to the mountain bike cruise in Southern Dalmatia on the same boat. In this case one tour guide will cycle with the mountain bikers while the other will accompany the trekking cyclists. Due to changing wind and weather conditions as well as organizational requirements the tour could be conducted in reverse order.

Parallel to some of the Southern Dalmatia tour dates we are also offering the Southern Dalmatia PLUS tour with one of the first class ships. On this tour E-bike rides are conducted parallel – the itinerary is similar. Therefore the PLUS tours would be the perfect alternative if the desired tour date on the regular tour is already fully booked or if you are looking for a tour on an even more luxury boat.

The ship – Your sailing hotel
In between cycling excursions, you cruise along with the ship, which travels to a new destination every day. You will sleep and have breakfast and 1 or 2 warm meals on board. Depending on the program, this will be lunch or dinner. The other meal is ashore (not included). It’s possible to spend a day on board if you like. There are rental bikes on board, but you can also bring your own if you mention it when booking.

Day to day program

All distances are “approximate distances” of recommended bike tours.

The tour details are barring changes, a.o. as a result of nautical, technical or meteorological reasons. We reserve the right to make changes to the planned itinerary due to changing wind and weather conditions as well as organizational requirements. If necessary the tour will be operated in reverse.

Day 1: Trogir (Embarkation) – Island Solta

Individual arrival by car to Trogir or by plane to Split Airport, located about 3.5 mi./6 km away from the harbour of Trogir. After checking in on the motor yacht between 2 and 2:30 pm, the first cruise from Trogir to the island of Šolta begins at 3 pm. The first night is spent in a quiet harbour on the island of Solta with the opportunity to take a swim after a day of travel.

Day 2: Island Vis (aprx. 20 mi./31 km)

This morning we enjoy a cruise during breakfast to the Island of Vis. Vis is the furthermost inhabited island from mainland Croatia. A Greek colony called Issa inhabited the island 2,300 years ago. Due to its strategic location it was a military zone until 1995 and prohibited for foreign tourists. Today we have the opportunity to explore the lovely island by bicycle. We have plenty of time to enjoy the island and spend the night here.

Day 3: Island Korčula (aprx. 18.5 mi./30 km)

In the morning we leave the island of Vis by boat and navigate to the harbor town of Vela Luka on the Island of Korčula. Along the way we throw the anchor for a refreshing swim stop. Korčula is regarded as one of the most scenic islands in the Adriatic, abundant in scenic impressions and quaint villages nestled in the green. Once we arrive in Vela Luka we can enjoy a round tour from Vela Luka to the village of Blato and back again. The night is spent in Vela Luka.

Day 4: Island Hvar: Hvar Town – Stari Grad – Jelsa – Stari Grad (aprx. 14 mi./22 km + aprx. 12 mi./20 km)

The day starts with a relaxing cruise to Hvar town on Hvar Island. Make use of the time before the cycle tour starts and go for a little stroll through the city. Standing on the magnificent Renaissance Square you can enjoy a view up to the Spanish fortress towering high above the city. Today’s bike tour takes us from the city of Hvar through small villages and lavender fields to Stari Grad on the opposite side of the island. The descent to Stari Grad offers breathtaking views. After a lunch break we continue start off on a second cycling tour through the green planes of the island to the seaside town of Jelsa. After a break for coffee and ice cream, we continue the round trip back to Stari Grad where we spend the night.

Day 5: Brač Island: Milna – Postira (aprx. 18 mi./29 km)

In the morning we cruise to the island of Brač, famous for its radiant, precious limestone that was, among others, used for the White House in Washington and in the construction of the German Reichstag building in Berlin. Once we have arrived on Brač, we start our bike tour from Milna to the picturesque harbor town of Postira. At first we cycle inland through small villages and past local architectural relics before hugging the coast with spectacular views across the channel to the mainland. On arrival in Postira there are many ways in which to enjoy the rest of the afternoon. The night is spent in the quiet harbor of Postira.

Day 6: City of Split (Rafting in Omiš) (aprx. 10 mi./17 km)

During breakfast the boat brings us to the city of Split. The old town of Split, built adjoining the famous palace of the Roman Caesar Diocletian, is a UNESCO world heritage site.  Today we have the choice either to take a bus transfer to go rafting through the Cetina Canyon (not included in the tour price) or to explore the wonderful Marjan forest Park in Split by bike. The rafting group will be picked up from the boat by a bus and are taken to Omiš for the excursion. From here they will follow the river downstream in the rafts gaining a unique perspective of the canyon and its flora and fauna. Participants of the rafting trip are brought back to the boat in the bus after the activity. Cyclist will enjoy a short but scenic bike tour through the green heart of Splits accompanied by an extensive swim break at a local beach. In the afternoon we can explore the bustling city of Split again together as one group. Overnight stay in Split.

Day 7: Šolta Island – Trogir (aprx. 12.5 mi./20 km)

In the morning, we once more cruise to the island of Šolta, where there will be the opportunity to take part in a bike ride to the local beekeeper Goran. Goran has a true passion for bees and has worked with them his whole life. He teaches about the importance of bees allows all his guests to try the delicious bee products. We cycle past walled fields, numerous olive groves, locust bean, and fig trees which line the roads. The scent of rosemary accompanies us along our tour around the island. After our bike ride, we return to the ship to enjoy our last crossing, past the cliffs of Čiovo Island and back to Trogir. Once we arrive, there will be plenty of time to visit the Old Town of Trogir, listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site. The last evening aboard is celebrated in traditional fashion in the company of our fellow travellers and guides.

Day 8: Disembarkation: Trogir

After breakfast disembarkation until 9 am and individual departure.

Good to know
  • Language aboard Due to our international audience all tours are conducted bilingually, in English and German.
  • Itinerary changes We reserve the right to make changes to the planned itinerary due to changing wind and weather conditions as well as organizational requirements. Our tours are dependent on weather conditions and the final decision is that of the captain. You are free to set aside a half or full day to swim or spend time on board the boat, instead of taking a planned bike-tour.
  • Level 2 – 3 The cycle tours require at least basic level of fitness from participants, which they should have acquired from steady cycling. The tours will take us up to a height of 200 to 650 m above sea-level. The day-tours from 12 mi. to 37.5 mi. (20 to 60 km) will take us through hilly and mountainous terrain and will be completed without any time-constraints. Participants will also need to master long and steep climbs, during which they are, however, also permitted to push their bicycles. We traverse mostly asphalted roads, which are rarely traveled on outside the holiday seasons. You are free to set aside a half or full day to swim or spend on board the boat, instead of taking a planned cycle tour. Helmet use is mandatory on all cycle tours. You are strongly encouraged to bring your own (well-fitted) helmet. Rental helmets are available in limited numbers (reservation requested).
  • Group riding pace On our regular cycling tours, the cyclists on regular bicycles determine the pace. We ask guests who have reserved an e-bike to be mindful of this and to acknowledge that the regular cyclists need time to rest and take longer to climb the hills. We thank you for your understanding.
  • Children We believe that only children in a good physical condition and with a minimum age of 10 and previous bicycle tour experience are able to master the cycle tours on their own strength. Please note that the minimum height for a rental bike is 1.30 m (4.3 ft.). There is a helmet duty for all children up to age 16 in Croatia.
  • Catering The on-board chef is a member of the crew and prepares the breakfast and and or two warm meals a day. The catering consists of 2 x full board and 5 x half board. Catering starts with the dinner on the arrival day and ends with the breakfast on the departure day.
  • Our ships Please do not forget that the ship is your hotel as well as a machine, which has to be maintained and operated – day and night. A certain level of noise is therefore inevitable.

We had a marvelous time on our Boat Bike Tour of Southern Dalmatia! Our guides, Anna, Marko, and Luko, were just wonderful–full of energy, laughter, knowledge, and kindness. They and the entire crew made us feel welcome and at home. The food was excellent (maybe a bit too much of it) and the service was outstanding. The San Snova was comfortable and spotlessly clean. We highly recommend this adventure even for 70 year-olds (you may want to get an e-bike, though).

Trip of a lifetime! We had the boat fully book with a total of 28 friends. The boat was Pape Prvi. The family & crew were outstanding. We were treated like family all week. Our two guides Mihael & Lucija were awesome! They prepared us extremely well for each days activities of breathtaking views, historical sites, towns & harbors along our routes. Safety was always first & foremost to ensure we all had a great experience…and we did! They also took the time to teach us each day about the Croatian language, flag, history & culture. What a beautiful county, people & culture to experience!!

My wife and I participated in the boat/bike tour Pearls of Dalmatia: Dubrovnik to Split on the boat Pape Prvi. We had a great time! The scenery was absolutely beautiful. The route taken was challenging, but well worth the effort. Our boat staff was great. They were friendly and attentive to all our needs. Our guides, Mihael and Lucia were tremendous. They were entertaining, supportive of our efforts and a font of information about the area we traveled. And, finally, Paula, our agent was understanding and patient answering all our questions of which we had many traveling in this time of COVID. Overall it was an A+ vacation which I would highly recommend to anybody. Chuck Falahee

The guides and crew were complete professionals and tons of fun. The boat, the routes, the programming, the ports, the equipment, the food, …. you get the idea.
