    Lale Andersen
    The ambiance of the cosy LALE ANDERSEN will instantly put you at ease. On the partially roofed sun deck, chairs and sun loungers invite for a stay. Smoking is not permitted on board the ship but naturally, you may smoke on the sun deck. All 56 cabins (approx. 11 m²) are outside. They are comfortably furnished and equipped with en-suite shower facilities, satellite TV, safe, hair dryer, in-house telephone, and an individually controlled air conditioning. The cabins feature large opening windows, while the suites (approx. 15 m2) on the upper deck have French balconies (= ceiling to floor sliding windows) and a small fridge. The twin beds in the suite can either be joined in a double bed or split in two separate beds. In the restaurant on the main deck, you can enjoy delicious food. In the lounge/ bar with large panoramic windows on the upper deck, you can let the day pass in review over a glass of wine. Look forward to meeting nice people, going for interesting bike rides and passing pleasant hours aboard the ship. On-board languages: German/English.

  • Program Rotterdam – Cologne

    Tour Details Germany: From Rotterdam to Cologne – Lale Andersen 

    Day 1 (Sat.): Rotterdam
    Embarkation in Rotterdam from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Enjoy your first evening on board or have a stroll through the city of Rotterdam with Europe’s largest port.

    Day 2 (Sun): Rotterdam – Dordrecht, cycle tour approx. 40 km
    Cycle first along the Maas River until you reach Kinderdijk boasting the best-known windmills in the Netherlands. The 19 windmills, which date back to the 18th century, are beautifully preserved and are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site. Continue the cycle tour and after a short while, you reach today’s destination- Dordrecht. The oldest city in the Holland area lies on an island bordered by large rivers and is characterized by numerous historic buildings, city ports and a fantastic atmosphere.

    Day 3 (Mo): Dordrecht – Gorinchem, cycle tour, approx. 30 km
    For today’s cycle trip, leave behind the lively cities and dive into the quietness of nature: pass through the national park of De Biesbosch, an adventurous labyrinth composed of rivers with crystal clear water and small islands. It is one of the few tidal freshwater zones in the world.

    Day 4 (Tue): Gorinchem – Wijk bij Duurstede, cycle tour, approx. 43 km
    Leave the fortified city of Gorinchem and enjoy a bike ride through unspoilt nature. Follow the River Linge, a tributary of the Rhine, and by reaching today’s destination Wijk bij Duurstede you arrive at the edge of the „Utrechtse Heuvelrug“(eng.: Utrecht Hill Ridge), a tree-covered ridge of low sands created during the last glacial period.

    Day 5 (Wed): Wijk bij Duurstede – Rhenen | Rhenen – Arnheim, cycle tour approx. 40 km
    During breakfast, the ship sets sail. After a short passage, you reach Rhenen – the starting point for your bike ride. Cycle along the Lower Rhine past the foreshore of the dike and reach Arnheim. A detour to the city center becomes a trip to bygone times with narrow lanes and picturesque buildings.

    Day 6 (Thu): Arnheim – Emmerich | Emmerich – Wesel, cycle tour approx. 50 km
    In the early morning, the ship takes you across the German-Dutch border. In Emmerich, start for today’s bike ride and cycle past the nature reserve of the Reeser Schanz and the Roman city of Xanten. Today’s destination is Wesel, a Hanseatic city with numerous remnants of the Prussian past, situated on the confluence of the Lippe and Rhine rivers.

    Day 7 (Fr): Wesel – Düsseldorf | Düsseldorf – Cologne, cycle tour approx. 55 km
    In the morning you will already have reached Düsseldorf from where you start your last cycle tour along the well-developed adventure trail „Rheinschiene“, a particularly attractive section where historic Old Towns and idyllic nature are interspersed with industrial heritage. The towns located directly on the Rhine, often boasting well preserved medieval town walls and towers, are well worth a detour. Eventually reach the Cathedral city of Cologne where the vivid riverbank of the Rhine invites for a stay. Enjoy a cosy evening on board or have a Kölsch, the typical beer from Cologne, in one of the numerous pubs.

    Day 8 (Sat): Cologne
    Disembarkation after breakfast until 09:00 am.

  • Program Cologne – Rotterdam

    Tour Details Germany: From Cologne to Rotterdam – Lale Andersen

    Day 1 (Sat): Cologne
    Embarkation from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Enjoy a cosy evening on board the ship or taste a Kölsch, a typical beer from Cologne, in one of the numerous Old Town pubs with view over the Rhine. Besides its many historical treasures, the Cathedral City offers a considerable number of parks and gardens. 

    Day 2 (Sun): Cologne – Düsseldorf, cycle tour, approx. 55 km | Düsseldorf – Wesel
    In the morning, start your cycle tour in Cologne.  Cycle along the Rhine Cycle Route on well-paved cycle ways, past quaint villages and with view over the other bank of the Rhine. This route offers variety between industry and idyll. Short detours to the villages located directly on the Rhine are well worth the effort and the medieval wall and tower remains will leave you impressed. At the end of this tour leg, you reach Düsseldorf. The multifaceted city is one of the leading cultural metropolis’ in Germany.

    Day 3 (Mon): Wesel – Emmerich, cycle tour  approx. 50 km |  Emmerich – Arnheim
    Situated at the Rhine’s confluence with the Lippe River and the Wesel-Datteln-Canal, the Hanseatic city of Wesel boasts numerous remains of the Prussian past of the region. Here you will start today’s tour leg, which also leads past the Roman city of Xanten. In Emmerich, the tour ends and in the evening the ship will set sail for Arnheim crossing the German – Dutch border.

    Day 4 (Tue): Arnheim – Rhenen, cycle tour approx. 40 km | Rhenen – Wijk bij Duurstede
    After passing the Dutch border, the Rhine branches off in small rivers, which form the Rhine-Maas-Delta. Today start for the cycle tour in Arnhem – a detour to the city center will take you back to bygone days with narrow alleys and picturesque buildings. Continue cycling through parks and woods, past dike foreland and reach Rhenen. In the evening, the ship will take you from Rhenen to Duurstede. 

    Day 5 (Wed): Wijk bij Duurstede – Gorinchem, cycle tour approx. 43 km
    The day starts with a short stretch along the wood of „Utrechtse Heuvelrug“(eng.: Utrecht Hill Ridge), a tree-covered ridge of low sands created during the last glacial period. Enjoy a bike ride through unspoilt nature. Continue following the Linge River, a tributary of the Rhine to reach the fortified city of Gorinchem. 

    Day 6 (Thu): Gorinchem – Dordrecht, cycle tour approx. 30 km
    On your way from Gorinchem to Dordrecht, you pass by the national park of De Biesbosch, a green maze of rivers with crystal clear water and small forested islands.     Day 7 (Fri): Dordrecht – Rotterdam, cycle tour approx. 40 km
    On your last stretch, explore the best-known windmills in the Netherlands at Kinderdijk. The 19 windmills, which date back to the 18th century, are beautifully preserved and are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site. The windmills are well worth a visit! Follow the route along the Maas River up to Rotterdam, one of the  largest ports in the world.

    Day 8 (Sat): Rotterdam
    After breakfast, disembarkation until 09:00 am. Individual journey home.

    Good to know:

    Bike Hire on board: smooth-running 7 speed – unisex- city bikes (custom built) with hand- and back pedal brakes or with free-wheel hub (please indicate upon booking) and pannier bags. Electric bikes (limited availability – timely booking required) Please inform us about your body height upon booking.
    Cycle Tours: Guided or unguided. You will cycle between 30 and 55 km per day. The kilometers indicated for the suggested cycle tours are approximate.
    Cycle routes/ level of difficulty: The quality of the cycle ways along the route is excellent. Most of the stretches are paved or asphalted, and lead alongside the Rhine dikes without any gradients of note. This makes the trip suitable even for unpractised cyclist.
    Optional Excursions: tour legs and the ship‘s time in port permitting, an optional excursion program will be organised. Excursions can only be booked and paid (in cash) aboard the ship.
    Luggage on board: We recommend waterproof rain gear, bike helmet, sun hat and sports shoes. We would like to ask you to do without hard-side luggage as storage space in the cabin is very limited!
    Alterations of schedule or program:  Subject to change. If a route cannot be shipped as a result of low or high water or bad weather, the captain reserves the right to change the route in view of your safety (this will not be accepted as a reason for free withdrawal).
    Travel documents: European citizens need a valid ID card or passport.
    Special Dietary Needs: (e.g. lactose- and gluten-free food) possible on demand and at extra charge, must be ordered at least two weeks prior to departure. For certain special dietary products it may be necessary to bring them along.
