Bike and Barge Italy: Amalfi Coast & Gulf of Naples | Deriya Deniz

This boat bike tour will give you a unique opportunity to discover the natural treasures and cultural heritage dotted along the Amalfi Coast and the Gulf of Naples, one of the most spectacular coastal landscapes of Italy. On board an elegant caique, a traditional fishing boat, this journey combines navigation and relaxation time with cycling and walking tours along the narrow streets of Capri, Pompeii, Procida, Ischia and Sorrento. Enjoy the “Dolce Vita” and the famous Mediterranean cuisine with a view over the gleaming, light blue sea.

Day to day program

We wish to specify that this is not a sailing trip. The ship is a motor vessel, it has sails but the navigation is powered by engines.

All distances are “approximate distances” of recommended bike tours.

The captain and the guide reserve the right to make alterations to the itinerary, depending on wind, sea and weather conditions or organizational requirements.

Day 1 (Sat): Embarkation: Castellammare di Stabia

We welcome you aboard your caique at 6 pm, moored at the Marina di Castellammare di Stabia. Learn about your accommodation on board, enjoy a welcome drink, dinner and a presentation of the week’s program. We spend tonight in the harbor of Castellammare di Stabia.

Day 2 (Sun): Catellammare di Stabia – Pompeii – Catellammare di Stabia (Approx. 15 km/9,6 mi.) | Catellammare di Stabia – Sorrento

Today’s stage starts with a cycling trip to Pompeii, the biggest open-air archaeological site of the world, which offers a unique snapshot of Roman life and provides a detailed insight into the everyday life of its inhabitants.
Back to the harbor, your caique will now set out for Sorrento, where you’ll enjoy a walking visit of the town. Overnight in the roadstead (sheltered anchorage) of Marina di Cassano.

Day 3 (Mon): Sorrento – Positano – Amalfi (Approx. 35 km/21 mi.)

Start today by exploring Sorrento and the Amalfi coast (Costiera Amalfitana) by bike, where you’ll cycle along the wonderful road overlooking the sea up to Positano. Afterwards. continue towards Amalfi, one of the four Italian Maritime Republics during the Middle Ages. Dine out tonight at one of Amalfi’s many fine restaurants at your own expense, and overnight in the Amalfi harbor.

Day 4 (Tue): Amalfi – Minori – Maiori – Cetara – Vietri (Approx. 25 or 35 km/15.9 or 21 mi.)

From Amalfi, we continue our bike tour along the coast, cycling on the coastal road with some ups and downs, passing through the hamlets of Minori, Maiori and Cetara. If you like, take a detour to reach Ravello, where you can enjoy a spectacular view over the whole Gulf of Salerno and up to the Cilento mountains. We eventually arrive in Vietri, famous for its vibrant ceramics. Tonight we’re docked in the small fishing harbor of Cetara.

Day 5 (Wed): Cetara – Capri  | Capri – Faraglioni |  Capri – Port of Ischia Casamicciola

Today is dedicated to the fashionable island of Capri, which we’ll explore on foot. Don’t miss the panoramic views over the famous Faraglioni cliffs: here you can look out across the whole Gulf of Naples dominated by the volcano Vesuvius. In the afternoon your caique will leave for Ischia. We spend the night in the harbor of Ischia Casamicciola.

Day 6 (Thu): Ischia – St. Angelo (Approx. 20 km/12.7 mi.)

Ischia is the biggest island in the Gulf of Naples and deserves to be explored by bike! Starting from the port of Ischia, you’ll cycle around the western side of the island, amidst the scents and flavors of the Mediterranean sea, passing through little hamlets along the way. Overnight in the harbor of Ischia Sant’Angelo.

Day 7 (Fri): Port Ischia St. Angelo – Procida | Procida – Pozzuoli | Pozzuoli – Castellammare di Stabia

Last but not least, today you’ll have the chance to explore the enchanting island of Procida, with its black sand beaches. Your caique will then sail up to Pozzuoli, in the bay of Naples, which we’ll visit on foot, including the Roman amphitheatre. We then navigate back to Marina di Castellammare di Stabia, where we’ll stay our final night.

Day 8 (Sat): Disembarkation: Castellammare di Stabia

Enjoy a last breakfast on board before fond farewells and disembarkation, till 9 a.m..

SGR guarantee scheme applicable

Tour operators are obliged by applicable Dutch and European law to secure customer received funds and payments in the event of their own insolvency or bankruptcy (in accordance with Section 513a of the Dutch Civil Code (Burgerlijk Wetboek) and EU Directive 2015/2302).

Boat Bike Tours (Chamber of Commerce register number 3714 7084) is a participant of SGR (Stichting Garantiefonds Reisgelden) and is registered under number 3.734. This registration can be checked on

The participating tour operators are subject to the guarantee protection of the SGR insolvency guarantee system that is required by law in the Netherlands. Under SGR’s warranty, the prepaid travel sums will be reimbursed to the end user if the tour operator is financially unable to meet its contractual obligations. If the agreement includes transportation and the destination has already been reached, the return trip will be arranged.

Extended warranty policy during the Corona COVID-19 crisis:
“Corona Voucher” with SGR protection

In the context of the exceptional circumstances resulting from the Corona COVID-19 crisis, all registered participants in SGR may issue so-called “Corona Vouchers” if the organizing tour operator is unable to carry out a tour due to official measures and other serious circumstances of force majeure, and therefore have to cancel the trip.

This means that a Corona voucher offered to the customer by Boat Bike Tours is accepted under the protection of the SGR guarantee system, and – for this reason – all payments and deposits made by a customer are and remain secured.

On March 16, 2020, the Board of Directors of the SGR adopted the following resolution:

  1. As of March 16, 2020, SGR will consider vouchers from tour operators participating in SGR as covered by SGR within the meaning of Article 3 of the SGR Guarantee System, subject to points 2 through 7 of this Decision.
  2. This cover only applies if the voucher fulfills the model voucher stipulated by SGR, and only for vouchers issued in the event of a cancellation of trips in connection with the inability to carry out the trip in connection with the occurrence of unavoidable and exceptional circumstances as a result of the Corona COVID-19 Virus and provided that the value of the voucher is clearly filled out and the voucher contains the name “Corona voucher”.
  3. The value of the voucher cannot be higher than the payment already made for the trip, which had to be canceled due to the Corona COVID-19 virus and for which the SGR guarantee originally applied.
  4. The voucher must contain an express validity period of a maximum of one (1) year after the date of issue.
  5. The voucher must state that the SGR guarantee system applies.
  6. This decision must be communicated on the SGR Website with a clear explanation of the particularities, timing and enforcement of Article 3 (10) (g) of the guarantee system for other vouchers and traveler checks.
  7. This decision regarding the right to issue of a special Corona voucher with a guarantee from SGR is temporary and expires on June 1, 2020, subject to the possibility for the Executive Board to extend this period after approval by the Supervisory Board.

This decision was approved by the SGR Board of Directors and is dated March 16, 2020.

Note: The above translations about SGR are not official SGR translations. SGR only communicates in Dutch and English. The Dutch text on the SGR guarantee system is generally binding.
