You will also visit the historical city of Haarlem, the open-air Zaanse Schans museum complete with windmills and a cheese farm, the cheese city of Alkmaar and the picturesque village of Volendam which is situated on the shore of Western Europe’s biggest lake, the IJsselmeer. For the duration of the cruise you will enjoy personal service, delicious meals and excellent accommodation on board your floating home away from home, the premium barge MS Magnifique II.

The English-speaking guide on board will take care of everything for you: a number of excursions on land & guided tours in various towns are included. Rental bicycles are available on board for short excursions or, if you want, longer tours (25-50 km).

The 63 meters (209 ft) long and 7.10 meters (23.3 ft) wide barge was built in 2015/2016 and as many as 35 guests can be accommodated on board to enjoy a very pleasant stay during their tour. The lower deck has 14 cabins: 12 twin cabins (approx. 11 M² | 118 sq.ft, 2 single beds next to each other), 1 premium twin (approx. 13 M² | 139 sq.ft, 2 single beds next to each other, small sitting area), and 1 single cabin (approx. 8 M² | 86 sq.ft)). Each cabin is equipped with a shower, toilet and basin. The comfortable beds are fitted with box spring mattresses. You adjust can the air conditioning and ventilation as you see fit. All cabins on lower deck have portholes, they are fixed for safety reasons. Your cabin also features WIFI, a flat screen satellite-TV, a small safe and hair dryer . If requested, an extra bed is available in some twin cabins (above one of the other beds).
The upper deck has 4 elegant suites with a 2 meter wide window (a part of the windows can be opened). In addition to beds and bathroom, these truly spacious cabins (approx. 14 M² | 151 sq.ft, 2 single beds next to each other) are equipped with a cozy seating area.
On the upper deck there are a tastefully furnished salon with restaurant, bar, lounge with wide screen TV, large windows and Wi-Fi (limited use of data). The big windows offer an exceptional view of the landscape. The sliding doors in the lounge open up in good weather and providing access to the partly covered teak wooden sun deck with chairs and tables. A cycle shed is on the front deck. The Magnifique II is the sister ship of the Magnifique and sails under Dutch flag and management too. The hospitable crew looks forward to welcoming you on board.
Day 1: Arrival and embarkation in Amsterdam | Amsterdam – Haarlem
Embarkation and check-in where the crew will welcome you on board is from 2pm in Amsterdam, Veemkade. From about 5 pm you will enjoy a dinner cruise to Haarlem. During a stroll around the historic old city in the evening you will very quickly understand why the beautiful city of Haarlem has inspired artists for centuries.
Day 2: Haarlem – Zaanse Schans or Haarlem – Zaanse Schans (Ca. 25/15 miles) | Zaandam – Alkmaar or Zaandam – Alkmaar (Ca. 40/24 miles)
Today can choose to either stay on board the ship and enjoy the beautiful scenery as it glides past in comfort or take part in an optional bike tour (ca. 25 km/15 miles) to the open-air museum “Zaanse Schans“ (incl.) with its beautiful windmills, an old Dutch village, a cheese farm and a traditional wooden clog maker. Once again in the afternoon you can choose between cycling or cruising on board the ship to Alkmaar, the home of Holland’s most renowned cheese market. After dinner there will be a short stroll around Alkmaar’s old town.
Day 3: Alkmaar – Amsterdam – Volendam or Alkmaar – Volendam (Ca. 35-50 km**/21-30 miles)
After breakfast you travel by ship from Alkmaar through the polder land of the Province of Northern Holland (a polder is a low-lying tract of land enclosed by embankments) and over the IJsselmeer to the picturesque fishing village of Volendam. Covering an area of 1100 m2, the IJsselmeer was formed in 1932 by the construction of the 32 kilometre-long Afsluitdijk (Afsluit Dyke) which effectively cut off the ocean to form Western Europe’s biggest lake. In Volendam you will enjoy a short stroll around the town (included). In the harbour area make sure you enjoy the local specialities smoked eel “Paling” or the salted herring “Maatjes”.
Day 4: Volendam – Amsterdam or Volendam – Amsterdam (Ca. 35-50 km**/21-30 miles)
You will once again have a choice to make today between staying on board the ship as it sails back to Amsterdam over the IJsselmeer or pedalling through the beautiful Waterland district to Amsterdam. Whatever choice you make you are guaranteed to be delighted by the beautiful scenery along the way. In the evening you will have the opportunity to enjoy a cruise through the canals of Amsterdam.
Day 5: Amsterdam
Disembarkation after breakfast until 10am: End of your trip.

The General Conditions (travel conditions) of Boat Bike Tours apply to cycling cruises, as well as to confirmation and cancellation of such tours. In principle, children are very welcome on board. However, before booking, we advise you to satisfy yourself that your child is able to manage a cycle trip of ca. 55 km. Of course you may stay one or more days longer on board (children under the age of 18 years must be under supervision). The interior of the ship is a non-smoking zone: smoking is only allowed on the sun deck. As a safety measure, a statutory smoking ban applies in all cabins; this means that all cabins and rooms on board are non-smoking areas.
