  • Good to Know

The bicycles on board are ATB bicycles with 27 or 21 gears. These bikes are very suitable for the bike tours and are easy to use. If you don’t have much experience with this kind of bike, please let one of the guides know so he can give you tips and advice. Some of the bikes have a luggage carrier and pannier bags.

Most of the bikes have 2 bottle cages and 2 bottles (600 ml each). Along the way there are water points where you can re-fill your bottles. Please use these opportunities so you will always have something to drink. If you have a flat tire, the guide can help with the repair of this. The bikes have two sided pedals, one side for regular shoes and one side for SPD. Regular bike pedals are also available. If you wish, you can bring your own pedals.

Your rental bike is waiting for you on arrival at the ship. You will use this bike the whole week. Please don’t forget to give your body height so the right size of bike is ready for you. You will need to sign a document with which you are liable for damage to the bicycle. This document must be signed and returned to the tour leader before the first bike tour.

For a successful cycling holiday it is necessary to have a good bike. Try the bicycle immediately upon receipt and therefore test the gears, brakes, seat height and tire pressure. Do a short test drive to make sure the bicycle is properly adjusted to the desired seating position. The bikes generally have a baggage carrier, so you can bring your bike bags. You can also use a small backpack or bag between the handle bars for your personal belongings.

Your guides have repair and reserve material with him for the trip.

Don’t forget to bring your helmet, it is required in Turkey. And your own cycling clothing and cycling shoes if you prefer those. Please let us know by booking if you want to use the SPD clips. If desired, you can also cycling with regular bike pedals.

The relatively high temperatures in this part of Turkey (also in October) require a large fluid intake. Please take care of that. Drinking so regularly, even if you are not thirsty.

    – You cycle through an Islamic country, we ask you to pay attention to you clothing, especially when going inland. For example do not wear the shortest kind of cycling shorts. Especially for the ladies.
    – You will spend quite some hours per day on the bike, we advise you to wear cycling shorts with a pad. They are easy to wash and dry on board.
    – Pay attention to your shoes, specially the sole. It should be hard enough to cycle and walk with them.
    – Don’t forget a good sun lotion and or a cap (under the helmet), good sun glasses with UV protection. It is very easy to get a bad sunburn here. We also advice cycling gloves, they protect from sunburn but also if you might take a fall.
    – Use a travel bag rather than a hard case, on behalf of limited storage space in cabin.
    – You have to wear slippers/socks or walk bare foot on board the ship, regular shoes are prohibited. Bring warm socks and a jacket/sweater for the evenings in May and October.
    – Bring an extra bath towel for the sun mattress, you will have a set of towels on board, but they will not be exchanged during the week.
    – You can bring a sleeping bag for nights on the deck; many people love to sleep under the stars.
    – Cash in euros and/or bankcard.
    – If you are sensitive bring medication for sea sickness and or diarrhoea.

This is a full board holiday, which means that breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided. During this holiday we will use our lunches on board and also have nice lunches in characteristic places. If you have any special requests regarding your meals, vegetarian, allergies, please let us know upfront.

There will be Dutch multilingual* tour leaders with you all the time, who also cycles with you during the trips. Their first priority is the proper organisation of your holiday program. And also be your contact for all your questions and occurring incidents. In addition they give insight and explanation of sites and interesting places to be visited. The latter is not a mandatory part of their task. *Multilingual: NL/GB/DE/ES/FR

Daily after dinner next day’s route will be presented and discussed. So you know what to expect and ask questions. If travellers are interested, we collect at the end of the day everybody’s pictures of the day and present a slideshow of them.

The tour leader will have a toolbox with him and will assist with technical problems or a flat tire. If necessary, spare bikes will be available.

Generally you can take 20 kg of free baggage. Every kilo above that is considered as cargo and is expensive. Please be aware of that. Please use a soft bag, not a hard case suitcase, this on behalf of the limited storage space in your cabin.

Single bookers are on request. When you want a private cabin just for you, you have to request for this separately. You will have to pay an extra fee of €300.

The transfer from the airport on the arrival day to the harbour in Göcek/Bozburun and on the departure day back to the airport will be organized for you. The additional costs for this are €50 p.p..

This cycling holiday is a guided one, that doesn’t mean you always have to cycle in a group, on certain parts, like climbs, it is better to cycle in your own pace. If the level within the group is too large, the tour guides can decide to split the group in 2.
