A great experience on the Elizabeth. Good route information for the interesting and enjoyable routes- we did the long ones without issues. Perhaps some better details on getting to the firstwaypoint would help. Comfortable rooms and good food. It really felt like we were being welcomed to the crew’s home because of the warm and friendly hospitality.

When our ship the Arkona was not available following a major rehaul (due to delayed government certification, I heard), BoatBikeTours made sure that we were booked on a similar tour with another company. We were notified of the cancellation as we were waiting for our flight to leave the US, so we were understandably upset. They were very patient, offering us a number of options. We ended up staying more time in Vienna before boarding in Passau, which had its own advantages. The company compensated us for all missed train and bnb reservations. The tour was just wonderful — the weather warm and sunny, the countryside beautiful in late spring, and the cities were fascinating, especially Bratislava. We would not hesitate to book another trip with BoatBikeTours, but we might want to avoid maiden voyages :-)

One week trip on Carissima was a blast. Enjoyable cycling, great dinners and superb staff. There are newer and fancier boats but I doubt there are any better ones.

Just finished a weeks trip in south Holland on de Amsterdam. The barge was very comfortable and well presented. The food was delicious – plenty of food at breakfast to prepare lunch including a piece of fruit and water. The bikes were of a good quality and the bike staff were very helpful. The only thing that spoilt my experience was because of the large number of Germans on board the English speakers felt like second class citizens. For eg On the second last day after ordering a drink in the bar I was told to move because there was not enough space for the Germans to have there briefing. As the sun deck was closed because of low bridges I had to go to my room to have my drink. Also the only English channels on the TV were US stock market shows.

Thanks for your review. We will forward your feedback to the crew on board and ask them to pay more attention to the English guests.

Our trip was billed as a boat based bicycle tour of Bordeaux wineries…there were lots of wineries but the company hadn’t contacted most of them, so after 5 days of riding, we only had 2 wine tastings and one tour…most wineries didn’t do any tours or tastings and the few who did said they needed reservations…the tour just hadn’t done their homework and it was pretty disappointing. The boat was very nice and the food was pretty good, although breakfast was the same every day… I’m not too crazy about the policy of charging for all drinks except tap water between meals, it just seems real cheap…I get charging for alcohol, but free cokes would’ve nice. The staff we had the most contact with were very friendly and helpful, but the captain spent a lot of time at the bar, and the tour guide needs to try to appear a little excited. We did have a good time and met lots of really nice people!

Thank you for your feedback about the tour in Bordeaux. We asked the owner of the ship for a comment: All the drinks and alcohol have cheaper prices on board than in any restaurant or bar. Of course, water is free on board and a bottle of of 1.5 liter water (flat or with gas) cost 2.5 €. The prices of the bottles of wine are between 17 and 32 €. This is the price they will find elsewhere for this kind of wine. Each evening a different wine is offered at 2.5 € per glass to allow passengers to enjoy all types of Bordeaux wines. Every wine is different! Each palace also, that is why the service of the corkage fee of 10 € is proposed (it assumes the expenses of services, glasses, cleaning, conservation fridge, bins ...). It is often refused in the establishments of Bordeaux, but the boat cannot propose a range of wine sufficiently extensive in a region where there are more than 7000 castles.

Really enjoyed the biking and towns we visited. Would have liked more time in towns. Food on board was great. Biggest dissapointment Vienna. Best city Budapest.

Everything about our boat-bake tour was superlative. The Netherlands is designed for bicycling, and our barge crew made it easy for us to enjoy every moment. We got daily recommendations that offered several alternate bike routes. We were free to explore and to see the countryside on our own — without having to drag our things around. Meals were ready for us when we got back to the barge by 6, and our cozy little cabin was clean and comfortable.
