We had a fantastic week sailing and cycling around the Wadden islands off the north coast of Holland on the Mare fan Fryslan and I would recommend it to anyone who likes fresh air and usually easy bike riding! The boat is lovely and comfortable and the crew are friendly and happy to help. Breakfast is plentiful and the evening meals are imaginative (though a strong preference for cold soups it seems!). The cabins are comfy. Each day you are given the itinerary for the day (often nothing like that described on the website) and an indication of the wind speed (the only downside of cycling in Holland). You get a map to follow and ideas of what to see and stop of and do during the ride – there is always plenty of time to get to your destination without rushing. Meal times and evenings are sociable affairs, but we were never disturbed by noise from other guests during the night. It is a useful thing to be able to speak, or understand languages other than English! What would I change? The advance information isn’t that accurate or honest – you only visit two islands (Texel and Terschilling), it’s hard to find the boat on the first day although it has a standard mooring in Enkhuizen, and the free car park at the station is very busy! Remember that cabins are small so take soft bags not suitcases and take your own shampoo and shower gel as you get mini ones at the start of the week, but these are not replaced. And if you don’t like ham and cheese then prepared to source your own lunch each day! Apart from those tiny niggles, this was great!

It was my first time with Boat Bike Tours. I will continue to take a tour with them at least once a year as long as I can bike ! The boat was clean and staff were friendly and helpful. Meals were much better than I had expected. Three course dinners served at the table were a real treat after biking all day. Our biking Guide was no nonsense, gave clear instructions, was helpful and fun to ride with.

We enjoyed our bike boat trip on the Fluvius. We travelled from Amsterdam to Brugge Belgium July 29 – Aug. 5 The staff went above and beyond, from Mariana and Tamara serving to the great food from Luc. The new crew member Jasper plus The captain Arno and his wife Els, helping us out everywhere and to our tour guide Jack who shared his knowledge of all the places we rode and walked. You all did a tremendous job. We thank you!! I would recommend this trip and this ship to anyone.

Boat Bike Tours needs to improve its service to customers and organization with the captains of the ships * we were informed to embark on the Twister. If fact we were on the Meander * There were 11 passagers and only 9 bicycles. If I did not notice it, I am afraid that nobody did it before leaving Kiel * Despite requests we received no information aout sailing and cycling days et ways. Even if it could change, it should be very helpfull to have this information far in advance * we were supposed to find on board a booklet with maps and information for cycling days. There was nothing on board . We have to visit the tourist office every day The Sailing and cycling trip it-self was perfect, thanks to the captain and its crew, It is a pity that BBT organization is not at the same level

Dear Philippe and Thierry, Thank you very much for your feedback, which is really appreciated. We are really sorry to hear about the lack of maps on board. We have the agreement with our partner in Germany, the organizing tour operator of this tour, that they provide the booklets with cycle maps to our customers on board, and not in advance. We have forwarded your e-mail in full to the local organizing company in Germany. Please find their reply here in full (translated): “The amount of bicycles on board is the amount notified. (our remark after a phone call : apparently, two guests did not wish to cycle at all and therefore did not need a rental bike). The Meander was always planned for this tour, not the Twister. Could you please let us know where you got this information? Your remarks about the lack of information on board will be discussed and will of course be improved in the future.” As you can see, they did not really send us an answer conc. the fact that your booklet with maps and tour descriptions apparently was not available on board. This is contrary to what we have agreed : our only explanation is that they forgot to bring your information on board. We are very happy that you have enjoyed the sailing, the cycling trips and the crew of the ship, but are also very sorry that the cycling maps were missing.

We did two Boat/Bike tours back to back starting with the Hanseatic tour aboard the barge Gandalf. Despite some cold rainy days we had a great time and found Hans to be the most generous skipper of the three Boat/Bike vessels we have cruised aboard. He provided complimentary wine with every meal and a wide choice of breads and veggies for making our lunch sandwiches. And with an Italian chef you can’t count on good evening meals. Hans was also the best of skippers and guides in terms of giving detailed morning and evening briefings about weather, routes, barge movements, etc. Gandalf isn’t fancy but she makes a great home for a week. The Gandalf also provided a bike guide but you were free to go ahead or behind at your own pace if you wished to do so. We liked a little faster pace and the challenge of finding our own way so after the first day we mostly struck out on our own.

Our Boat-Bike Tour from Bruges to Amsterdam on July 16-23, 2017 aboard the Magnifique II exceeded our expectations for relaxed active travel, organized, capably-staffed with kilos of two-wheeled bike touring fun. We enjoyed the companionship of three-dozen international travelers with different experience levels and interests, which made for interesting meal-time conversations. Bikes were serviceable Dutch masters and more comfortable than anticipated. We often opted for self-guided day-rides with increasing confidence in the “knooppunt” node system. There was ample time to complete each day’s itinerary and always an option to stay on the boat. The accommodations on the boat (barge?) are first-rate from staterooms to amenities to meals, including a sundeck, on-board hot-tub, wifi, A/C, and three-course dinners. For those who appreciate details- the wifi worked most reliably in the staterooms, and the temperature of the A/C was controlled by the Captain. The small number of staff worked with grace and good humor. They were generally easy-going, affable, happy to help, and fun to interact with. Thanks to Hester, Marnick, , Sylvia, Jolien, Leroy and Captain Paul for your cheerful hospitality and friendly encouragement to relax and enjoy our experiences in Belgium and Netherlands.

The tour guide was very knowledgable, the bikes were suitable, and routes were interesting. Having maps as well as written directions was helpful. The food was good and the staff was friendly.

My husband and I, as well as our four adult children, with their partners, and also our 11 month old grand daughter just returned from an absolutely fabulous week on the Fiep. I woke up this morning wishing I was still there!! We all had such an amazing time. Although the weather was not perfect we had such an enjoyable time biking. The crew of the Fiep could not have been better…so kind, helpful (getting baby stuff) and such delicious, ample food! After a week of spending time with Karen you felt like she was a dear friend. We hated to leave her. I would highly+++++ recommend this boat/crew/bike trip (five stars are not enough). We’re already thinking of our next trip…for sure on the Fiep.

Tom was a gracious tour guide and the food was excellent on the boat. All the boat personnel were helpful. Highly recommend the Manufique 2.

Astoundingly wonderful boat — far exceeded expectations. Fantastic chef – meals make or break any trip! Our guide Tom was incredibly erudite and interesting — funny without being silly, and always informative and helpful. the ONLY thing I would suggest is that the bikes are “so-so”, although by no means unacceptable.
