It was a very nice experience, especially not having to move lodging every day! Great to keep the same cabin all week! As for the tour leader, he was a bit quick most of the times with takeoffs. I think he should have been more accurate with the times, I mean, when you tell people that we are leaving at 1530 for a tour, you don’t leave at 1525… He did that on sevaral occasions. Else he had good knowledge of everything, and I am inclined to do this trip again at some point.
Thanks for writing this review. You enjoyed the boatbike-concept: nice! And for the next tours: we will ask the tour guide not to hurry.

Last year 24 of us were part of a USA coast to coast bike tour. The couple from The Netherlands arranged for us to take the boat/bike tour on the Fluvius. With additional friends and family we totaled 31. This was the perfect way to travel and see the country. Cabins, with private baths, were clean and comfortable. Many of the hassles of travel were eliminated because we could be in a new place every day while without having to repack and move luggage. The chef served a good breakfast and a 4 course dinner every night. We also were provided items to pack for lunch. Evenings began in the lounge. it was the perfect place for all of us to get together. Our guide was most patient with 31 bikers of varying abilities. There was ample time planned for stops in various communities and museums. He also took us out on evening walks in the towns. I would only make two suggestions to improve the experience. 1) Divide large groups into groups of no more than 12 of similar cycling abilities and desires. We would have preferred to go at least 60 kilometers a day at a pace of 24km/hr. As a group of 31 we averaged 14km/hr and 30-40 km. Perhaps the guide could alternate days with a group. On days without a guide a group could just follow the route sheet set up for long or short rides. 2) Provide more information about cycling laws and customs prior to setting out. I’m sure we endangered ourselves and annoyed drivers because we didn’t understand all the intersection rules. I’d recommend the trip to anyone who really wants to see The Netherlands. It’s an especially good trip for couples or groups who have bike riders and non-riders among them.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. So nice to hear you had such a great time in the Netherlands. We constantly try to improve our service, so thanks for your suggestions on how to make our tours better.

This is our second time booking with Boat Bike Tours who are easy and courteous to make arrangements through. The first was Bruges to Amsterdam 2 years ago on The Fluvius, September 14 to 21 2013 with 36 passengers and guided. This time Passau to Budapest June 14 to 21 2015 on My Story with 100 passengers, self guided. Both wonderful experiences. We especially enjoyed, My Story Cruise Director Leslie – great personality, organiser and friend.
Many thanks for your positive feedback and for your kind words regarding director Leslie.

my friend and i did the netherlands/belgium trip in May 2015 and had a fantastic time. Thomas, our guide, was amazing, the bikes were easy to ride, and very comfortable, and the places we saw were so memorable. Now i am looking to do another trip w/ them in the fall…
Thanks for your review. Just feel free to contact us for more information about a next trip. We would like to inform you about our programm.

The trip was excellent. We enjoyed very much the nature, the small villages, the vinetasting, the day (one and a half) in Wienna, and also the bikes. they were very good. The service was fine and all in time, The only thing to complain for was the narrow cabins, and also a smell like the smell of something old in the cabin. In spite of that, the tour was marvellous.
Thanks for sharing your experience with us about the tour along the Danube. On board of a ship the room is limited. We sent your complaints about the smell forward to the crew on board.

Everything was well organized and amazingly inexpensive. The routes are not always clearly marked but when you take a wrong turn you can usually easily get back on the right path. The Hague should be taken off the route map of the Southern Tour, since it gives the false impression that there will be a visit to this city.
Thanks for your review about the Southern Tour. Sorry if we haven given you a false impression; in the tourdescription you could read that The Hague is not part of the tour. The Hague is marked on the map because it is the seat of government in the Netherlands and the capital city of the province of South Holland. Maybe a good reason to come back to Holland another time and visit this city?

Our sailing and biking tour of the Danish Baltic was a wonderful combination of good company, good organisation, good food and good opportunities to explore lovely countryside and villages. All in all – a fantastic week! The skipper of the Oban was mindful of the prevailing winds, and charted a course each day that made cycling a pleasure, regardless of the weather! We are a mature couple, and enjoyed 30-50 kms per day of cycling on picturesque Aero, Lyo and Langeland as well as sightseeing in the ports of Kiel, Marstal, Aeroskobing, Svendbourg and Bagenkop. Would recommend this tour to anyone with a basic level of fitness, an appreciation for the outdoors – sailing, cycling walking – and a sense of adventure! Well done Olaf, Jolan, Imke and Bo – you gave us memories to treasure!!!!
Thanks for sharing your experience with us. It makes us happy to read that you had such a good time!

A week on the Green Heart of Holland tour with the Jelmar. Room for 20 on board, but only 7 travelling in late May, so nearly personal service from the crew of two. Excellent all round. Surprisingly varied and beautiful countryside, and time to explore the towns and cities too. Dutch kilometres must be shorter than other kilometres, as it’s so flat – you hardly noticed how far you’d travelled, even on the sit-up-and-beg hire bikes. Food just what you wanted – plenty of it and tasty, although nothing too exotic. Cabins and beds perfectly comfortable. The crew spoke Dutch, German and English, and were a great, although unlikely, double-act (a weatherbeaten salty sea-dog as skipper+owner+waiter with a petite cook+deckhand+Number 2).
Many thanks for your positive feedback!
