Southern Tour aboard de Amsterdam

We thoroughly enjoyed the Southern Tour of Holland aboard the de Amsterdam in mid-July. We’d opted for a suite, and it was well worth the additional cost, being spacious and well-furnished; we were particularly glad of the sliding patio doors in that week’s hot weather. The twin cabins also looked spacious and comfortable. The cycling routes were varied and interesting, both our guides (Marielle and Irene) were helpful, friendly and fun, and we made some new friends among our dinner-table companions, always a nice bonus :) We found the dining room a little cramped, especially during the breakfast buffet, and it was too hot in the evenings because of the warm weather. The food was good, and our waiter was very friendly and helpful. We took our own bikes and were able to charge my e-bike with no problem. The rental bikes were much heavier than ours, but apparently were very comfortable to ride. This being our second tour, we were already familiar with the Ride With GPS app and the Dutch cycling system, (both of which are amazing!!); it took the first-timers a while to get to grips with them, but everyone seemed to be fine after that. Hoping to return for the Northern Tour next year. It’s a great way to spend a week!
