Cycling Danube: Danube Countries

What’s the best way of cycling along the Danube River? Combine a fantastic stay aboard one of our boats with the experience of a bike trip through the beautiful Danube countries and get the best of both worlds! All of our Danube cycling tours depart from Passau, biking and cruising through majestic landscapes on the way to Vienna and Budapest. By the end of the week, your Danube cycling tour will bring you back to Passau — but not before you revel in the Danube’s wine regions, hilltop fortresses, romantic towns and some of Europe’s most charming cities.

The gentle terrain and varied landscapes you’ll travel through make this Danube cycling tour an extremely popular trip for all ages, especially since you’ll cycle along the Danube River by the day and relax in your floating hotel in the evenings. We also offer live music on some boats, panorama salons on others or exclusive luxury tours on the MS Carissima, with its sun deck and pool. And if you don’t feel like biking for one day of the trip, you can skip the bike tour and enjoy the cruise to your next destination!

Cycling Danube: Along the Danube and across two countries

This Danube cycling tour will lead you from the Passau, “The City of Three Rivers”, through the 180° “Great Loop” of the Donau and then downstream towards Vienna, which you will reach on the 5th day. The 6th day will be all about exploring Vienna: Visit the boulevard, the State Opera, and the city park Wiener Prater, and have a drink in one of Vienna’s famous cafes. Even go to a real Viennese opera, or dance the Austrian waltz!

Those wanting to go even further could consider our Iron Gates bike and boat tour, which crosses six Danube countries over 14 days and even includes passage through the dramatic Iron Gates Gorge at the border of Serbia and Romania. On top of this, you’ll also get to explore four European capitals along the Danube — Vienna, Bratislava, Budapest, and Belgrade! And if that’s still not enough, why not consider our Danube Delta Tour, and explore Romania’s delta reserve (where the Danube enters the Black Sea) by bike and boat?
