About this tour

Embark on a journey through the spectacular Dalmatian landscape by e-bike and onboard luxury ship. The famous national parks Krka and Kornati as well as the Telašćica Nature Park are just as much a highlight of this tour as the beautiful medieval old towns of Šibenik, Zadar and Trogir. The central Dalmatian island Dugi Otok is another highlight of the tour, offering incredible panoramic views over the sea and surrounding islands.

This trip is part of our Islandhopping Plus program, which combines active vacations with extreme comfort. On this tour the elegant motor yacht, Magellan, act as your floating home for the week. The cabins are wonderfully spacious and lovingly furnished, the private bathrooms have both shower and toilet. There are plenty of places to sit or lie back and relax on deck while the communal salon offers a stylish area indoors to unwind and enjoy a drink.

E-Bike Tour
The riding pace is determined by the cyclists on e-bikes. Guests who are taking part on this tour on a regular bicycle should have the necessary physical condition to keep up with this pace. The tours take you up to a height of between 200 and 500 m above sea-level. The daily tours from 15 to 31 mi./25 to 50 km lead you through hilly and mountainous terrain. Thank you for your understanding.

The ship – Your sailing hotel
In between cycling excursions, you cruise along with the ship, which travels to a new destination every day. You will sleep and have breakfast and 1 or 2 warm meals on board. Depending on the program, this will be lunch or dinner. The other meal is ashore (not included). It’s possible to spend a day on board if you like. There are rental E-bikes on board.

Changes
We reserve the right to make changes to the planned route due to changing wind and weather conditions, and where required by organizational necessities. The tour can also been operated in reverse order.

Day 1: Trogir (embarkation) – Rogoznica

Individual arrival by car to Trogir or by plane to Split airport, which is about 3 mi./ 6 km away from the harbor of Trogir. After checking in on the motor yacht between 2 and 2:30 pm in Trogir we head off on our first cruise at 3 pm to Rogoznica – a village on a small island that is connected to the mainland by a dam. Along the way we stop for a swim directly from the boat. Dinner and first night in Rogoznica.

Day 2: Rogoznica – Vodice – Slanica – Nature Park Telašcica (aprx. 17 mi./27 km)

In the morning, we sail to Vodice, a popular holiday resort. It is here that we begin our first cycling tour, crossing the bridge to the island of Murter before continuing on to the Slanica on the northwest of the island. Here we board the ship once more and sail towards Dugi Otok. On the way we pass through the Kornati National Park, an archipelago in crystal clear water, known for its rich marine life. Our destination is Telašćica Bay in the Telašćica Nature Park. In the late afternoon there is the opportunity to go for a short hike up to the impressive, white cliffs that fall steeply into the blue sea below. In the bay of Telascica we can spend the evening swimming from the boat and the night is spent in the peaceful setting of the Telascica Nature Park.

Day 3: Island Dugi Otok – Zadar (aprx. 28 mi /45 km)

After breakfast we start our bike tour from the Telascica Nature Park, along the almost car-free island of Dugi Otok to the bay of Božava, surrounded by pine forests, agaves, and tamarisks. Along the way we can enjoy the spectacular panoramic views across the stunningly blue sea. We meet the ship in Božava and board for a crossing to Zadar, a city which for centuries was the political, cultural, and spiritual centre of Dalmatia. Once we arrive, there is the opportunity to take part in a walking tour during which you will find out all about this fascinating city while strolling through the winding alleys and the lively old town, characterised by 3,000 years of history. The night is spent in Zadar.

Day 4: Zadar – Island Ugljan and Pasman – Vodice (aprx. 21 mi./33 km)

During breakfast we sail us to Preko on the island of Ugljan. From here we cycle to Tkon on the island of Pašman, connected to Ugljan by a bridge. Today’s cycle leads along the east coast offering beautiful views of the sea and the mainland. We then board the ship once more and sail from Tkon to Vodice, the famous seaside resort on the Dalmatian mainland. Here we spend the night.

Day 5: Vodice – Skradin  – Krka Waterfalls (aprx. 22 mi./35 km)

Today’s cycling tour leads along varied roads through remote villages in the Dalmatian inland to the beautiful port of Skradin, located at the foot of the Krka Canyon. In the afternoon, we take a small boat to the Krka National Park where have plenty of time to explore the unique and truly spectacular Krka Waterfalls on foot. The night is spent in the postcard town of Skradin.

Day 6: Skradin – Šibenik – Primošten

During breakfast the boat departs Skradin and makes its way down the Krka River back towards the sea and the city of Šibenik. Here we have time to explore the city, home to the Cathedral of St. Jacob, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the most beautiful sacral building on the Adriatic coast. Afterwards, we board the ship once more and enjoy a swim stop and lunch during our crossing to Primošten where we spend the night.

Day 7: Primošten – Trogir (aprx. 25 mi./40 km)

In the morning we hop on our bikes for the final cycling tour of the week from Primošten to Trogir. The route leads inland through small villages and, towards the end, offers wonderful views of Trogir and the island Čiovo. In the afternoon, there is plenty of time to explore the medieval old town of Trogir, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the evening, our last dinner gives us time to reminisce on the week that past and to say goodbye to fellow travellers, the crew, and tour guides.

Day 8: Trogir

After breakfast disembarkation until 9 a.m. and individual trip home or extended stay in Croatia.

  • Language: Due to our international audience all Islandhopping tours are conducted bilingually, in English and German.
  • Requirements for e-bikers (level 1):  E-bike tours suitable for guests with a good basic level of fitness. The tours and the elevation meters are very manageable with an e-bike (30-60km and 400-700 elevation meters per day).

E-Bikes/Gravelbikes
  • Our e-bikes are all high-quality Pedelecs, mostly fitted with a Bosch motor and extra battery range. Our e-bikes are also characterized by their relatively light weight and great components. Some of our fleet are also equipped with other motor systems. Standard components found on our e-bikes include 28’’ hollow rim wheels, puncture proof touring tires, high quality gear and break systems, a sturdy bike stand, a comfortable touring saddle as well as mud guards.
  • The gravel or road bikes can be ridden over a variety of terrain. These bikes run perfectly on smooth asphalt surfaces as well as on gravel trails. The Orbea Terra H (or similar model) is the ideal all-terrain road bike. The ‘H’ stands for ‘hydro’ and indicates the extensive versatility of the bike. The aluminium frame allows for an upright seating position, as required for non-asphalted roads. Orbea calls this “all-road geometry”. The Terra H has a carbon fork, which allows tire widths up to 40 mm, flat mounted disc brakes, and 12 mm thru axles. A Shimano Tiagra transmission completes the bike’s components. The bike is fast, light, robust, extremely versatile, and is exceptional to handle.
  • Bike helmets: It is mandatory for all participants on our tours to wear a bicycle helmet.
  • Bringing private bikes & exclusion of private e-bikes: The tour which you have booked requires an e-bike in top technical condition. Islandhopping can offer you high quality, fully serviced rental bikes perfect for the terrain of this tour.We do not allow you to bring your own e-bike due to the safety regulations on ship as well as ensuring the safety of our employees. If you would like to ride an e-bike, please rent one from our inventory.

We do not advise bringing your own tour or hybrid bike, as the guided group pace is oriented towards the e-bike riders. If you want to ride your own bike on the trip, we recommend bringing a sporty bike that meets the technical requirements to keep pace with the higher speed of the e-bikes. In addition, your bike will need to have good tires (ex. Gravel Bike or Cyclocross Bike). Furthermore, you should ensure you have the required level of physical fitness. Before traveling, please check the condition of brakes, gears and tires as well bringing repair kits and essential spare parts (e.g. inner tube). Your bike must be in top technical condition. Please keep in mind that transporting your own bicycle will result in relatively high additional costs (particularly when flying) and the risk of transport damages is high.

This trip was exceptional with outstanding guides, crew, and participants. The itinerary was challenging but very doable – the right mix of biking, breaks, swimming, tours, and rest. I definitely recommend e-bikes although our 34 year old daughter appreciated the regular bike. We loved the Magellan – so comfortable. The berths and bathrooms comfy and clean. Sometimes the below deck rooms got too hot but showers helped us cool down. Captain Ivan and sailors Hari and Frane made smooth trips. Anchoring for swim stops most welcome in the heat. Chef Bojan and soups-chef Vera went out of their way to accommodate my vegan eating. I so appreciate their efforts and it was delicious. Žuži and Zdrxvko (sorry for bad spelling) took good care of our food and drink needs. Our guides: Srdan and Luka were very protective of us. They always started a ride with clear expectations and directions. No one was left behind. We learned about areas where we traveled – culture and nature. One of our group injured her hand and they were professional and effective in getting her the needed treatment. That was so important for all of us. They are also lots of fun with good experiences of local food and drink. The group was terrific with many making new friends and sharing experiences with each other. No downsides to this group at all.

It was a great holiday that was very well managed by both the boat staff and your guides. We had the opportunity to make new friends from around the world and they were there to enjoy the experience as much as us. We loved Croatia and the lovely people who lived and worked there. The combination of the cycle rides and sightseeing was excellent too. The Dalmation coast and the myriad of different islands to see was wonderful. Finally, the standard of food that was produced from the boat’s small galley was nothing short of amazing! We could not fault it!!

Just returned from a boat/bike tour of the Croatia National Parks. Everything was well organized and was as advertised. The bikes were comfortable, and the pace of the holiday was right for us with a mix of sightseeing and bicycling.
