On the upper deck of the Gandalf you will find the large and cozy lounge with the bar and dining area. Wi-Fi is available. The barge also has two large sundecks with storage room for the bicycles and sitting areas with tables and chairs, where you can have a drink. On nice evenings, or while cruising, you can enjoy the scenery from here. Furthermore, equipped with a double-roof of solar panels, the Gandalf runs for a great part on green energy! This is not only environment-friendly, but also comfortable for guests: since the ship hardly needs to use a generator to produce electricity, the nights are still and quiet on board.

Staying on the Gandolf was great fun and the bike riding through the flat countryside and quaint villages was a real joy. Though the cabin was small, the mattress was comfortable and there were places to store your things. It was nice to have my own small bathroom. Showers were a bit tricky as the water fell back towards the wall and fixtures than on me. The food was plentiful and delicious, and dinners were all varied. Hans and Saskia did a great job getting us where we needed to be and were friendly and helpful. The bikes were in great condition. Our group used both ebikes and regular bikes, all of which worked well. Joan was a great guide with plenty of information and lots of experience biking in The Netherlands. He made sure the bikes were fixed to our liking. He confidently and calmly led the way and, almost every evening, offered a walking tour around the towns where we stayed. He found out what the group was interested in and made sure to include things related to these interests as we peddled our way across the country. We lucked out with the weather with clear, sunny days. Remember to stop for water in the afternoons and stay hydrated if you run in to this kind of weather.
βThe ββGreen Heart of Hollandββ itinerary gave us a nice introduction to northwestern Netherlands, full of interesting sites and gorgeous landscapes. Our Dutch guide, Patrick, was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and patient with our large group of Germans, Americans, and Canadians. He had to be flexible and creative due to weather and other changing conditions. The crew was friendly and helpful, and Hansβs dinners were wonderful. The boat is basically furnished and cozy; it all made for a wonderful trip.β
Fred was a fabulous Tour Guide. He took us to so many great places and he made sure it was easy for everyone to follow him. On his own time, he also took us on guided walks in the evening which was so much fun. Great staff on board the Gandalf. Very attentive and great food. Overall Amazing tour. Sights and towns were absolutely gorgeous. Hit some rain but it didnβt damper our tour. It was so nice to get to know the other riders from various countries. Very friendly group of travelers.

Captain Hans, Skipper Saskia, Chef Adam and assistant Alexandra were wonderful. Our Guide Fred was superb taking us through quaint villages, along dikes, dunes, beaches and fields. Texel Island was a favourite. The meals were exceptional.
