The sailing ship Leafde fan Fryslân made its maiden voyage for Sail & Bike tours in spring 2018 and is managed by its owner-operators, Joris and Rinske de Wit. In winter 2023-’24, in a quite unique operation, the large sailing vessel was cut into two pieces and extended by a new section of 14 meters (approx. 46 ft.). Also, an additional fourth mast was installed. This will make the Leafde Fan Fryslân the only four-masted-schooner in Dutch waters. The interior of this luxury ship can best be described as refined. Description of the cabins
On the lower deck, the Leafde fan Fryslân has sixteen well-appointed cabins. Twelve twin cabins (10 m² – 107 sq.ft.) and one smaller twin cabin (9 m² – 96.8 sq.ft.), with two single beds, which can be set together in most cabins, one junior suite (12 m² – 129 sq.ft.) with two single beds, which can be set together and a small sitting area and two single cabins (7 m² – 75 sq.ft.). Two of the twin cabins can be booked as a three-bed cabin (the third bed as bunk).
On the upper deck there are 4 magnificent suites (18 m² – 193 sq.ft.) with two separate beds, set next to each other as a hotel style bed (200 x 190 cm – 78 x 74 inches), a cozy sitting area, a TV, a double glass door and small private balcony.
All cabins/suites have an en-suite bathroom with shower, toilet and basin, air-conditioning, a hairdryer, a mini safe and a 230-Volt socket. The cabins have portholes and/or a hatch that can be opened.
Description of the ship
On the lower deck you will find the air-conditioned restaurant in nautical style, where the carefully prepared sumptuous meals are served. In the wheelhouse on the upper deck, the Leafde fan Fryslân offers a cosy lounge which is equipped with large panoramic windows, a well-appointed seating area , TV and a well equipped bar. Wi-Fi is available. The best views over the water are available here and on the deck, where you can also have a seat when the weather is nice.

- A really enjoyable experience.
A really enjoyable experience on the Island Hopping Boat Bike Tour of Holland. We’d not undertaken a holiday of this type before but would really recommend one. The boat and cabin are perfect. Very comfortable cabins but very limited on space, there’s no where to store hard shell or large suitcases in the cabin so take soft sided bags. We took our own helmets but they do provide helmets. We should have taken our own bike seats as the ones on the bikes are quite hard and wider than our own. The guides told us we could have brought our own. But we managed The Crew are so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. They were always able to answer our questions. The food was really delicious =Ø Þ and the chef very accommodating for those with different food preferences. There was something to suit everyone.

The cycling was great, the cabins on the ship were a little crampled but the communal spaces were comfortable.

Boat & Bike was very responsive to any questions we had prior to departing on the Waddenzee trip aboard the Leafde fan Fryslan. The ship s crew (of 5) was fantastic and we recommend this adventure highly! The biking experience was pretty easy (flat!) while the scenery was first-rate. The suite we stayed in was spacious and very comfortable. The food aboard was varied and good. We would do this trip again!
